Hi lovelies,

I had the amazing opportunity to work with Studio Gear Cosmetics and try out their new Hydrating Color Correcting Cream with SPF 20. I must say I was pretty intrigued to find out that they state that the Cream has micro encapsulated pigments that automatically adjust to your skin tone. I found that out first hand. Your skin remains soft for hours!!! Check out my review video below.

Also don’t forget to head over StudioGearCosmetics.com to try out all wonderful products including the Hydrating CC cream I review.

Outfit: Blue Denim mingle with Black Leather Stripes

Hi lovelies,

Here is a trend that continues on this spring – The denim trend. You can wear denim as a shirt, a skirt, a dress and whatever else your heart desires this year. I had also been looking for some leather striped leggings or pants but most of the ones I had seen were over 60 dollars for the quality I was looking for. I finally found these ones on sale for a low price of 10 dollars! They were originally marked for about 80 dollars so I greatly appreciated the sale price.  I know this coming spring I will be wearing them with crop tops but right now the spring weather is still pretty chilly and cold on the east coast so I am wearing it with warmer full sleeves shirt.

I have started a small collection of lipsticks now because I used to only wear lip glosses. So I am thinking this is my first set of blog pictures where I am wearing lipstick. I actually like it on me. Till last year I thought lipstick was a bit too much for my face but it has grown on me this year.

Tell me about what are things that you thought you wouldnt but then later realized how great they look on you or how easy they make your life?

Health 101: Fighting acidity and reflux

Hi Lovelies,

I had been meaning to write this post for quite some time as I have combated with this illness so far 3 times in my life. It seems to be a common problem with a lot of people these days. It arrives slowly but then takes forever to leave. Today I am going to talk about things that lead to acidity and reflux as well as things that will help it. No this isn’t going to be like other posts where I am going to give you short term solutions or home made remedies, instead I am going to talk about lifestyle changes and breakthroughs that most people usually ignore and dont think will help. And ofcourse as always I will talk about some common misconceptions.

My first battle with acid reflux started when I was a teenager. I recall sleepless nights and becoming insomniac. I would get up and chew pieces of bread all night but the pain wont go away. This bout lasted me a good 7 months till I finally saw a doctor who hit the nail on the head. The acid and reflux wasn’t just because of my diet but it was also due to stress and anxiety! Ofcourse when we get sick we only worry more and more everyday. Which aggravates the issue further. So key point here for long time or on and off sufferers is to find ways to relax! Find activities and hobbies to make  part of your lifestyle that make you happy and help you forget about your problems for a bit. I have noticed dancing, exercise and music helps me tremendously. There is always meditation and yoga. Some people like to play video games etc!

But that wasn’t the break through the doctor found she not only gave me some OTC acid blocking pills to take for 6 weeks but she also put me on anti anxiety pill for a few days as needed and lo and behold my long standing problem of 7 months went away. The same OTC pills didn’t work on their own prior to trying the anti anxiety pills. Now I am not telling you to abuse those pills. I am just saying you can always find ways to calm yourself down the natural way.

The second bout came when my doctor put me on naproxen for my foot pain. Most people know NSAID (anti inflammatory medication) tear up your stomach linning. Well a week later I was in stomach agnoy again. That is when I discovered Apple sauce. It became a breakfast staple for me every morning. Well sometimes I ate them for lunch too. Anytime I felt bad I ate them. Lo and behold the problem went away in a few weeks.

And then it happened again earlier this year. On January 3rd 2014, I realized the problem raised its ugly head again. I was put back on the meds again, both OTC and anti anxiety. I avoided taking the anxiety meds and tried to relax on my own. I stopped eating spicy food. Cut out coffee chocolate , juices and tea! Anything with flavor? forget it! No fried food nothing delicious. The pain wont go away. 6 weeks later I see my doctor again. This doctor is amazing and very positive she thought I was too young to be put on more meds and asked me a key question: “how much water do you drink?” and I realized I actually dont drink water apart from when taking meds or a glass before bed. She was shocked and I was embarrassed. I was asked to drink 8 glasses a day for 2 weeks and come back if I am not better and stop eating so clean. She wanted me to have a balanced diet.

It was really hard to drink 8 glasses a day. I was feeling extremely full and pudgy all day. Thats when I realized reading somewhere long time ago that if your stomach becomes too alkaline (ph base) your stomach produces more acid. That is where the misconception comes in. You think you are having acidity and you eat better only to make your self alittle too alkaline in your stomach. I was like let me find some french fries and add them to my diet that day at lunch. Guess what? it was like magic the pain went down! I slowly reduced the amount of water to 6 glasses and started eating a more balanced diet. And bam the problem was resolved.

Now why am I telling you all this? So you can try this out for yourself:

1) Drink more water!

2)Drink water half an hour to 20 minutes before you eat, especially if you are planning to eat something spicy or greasy. Well even coffee or chocolate. Think of it as a cleanser. It goes into your stomach and gets rid of all the toxins. So once all the acid and bad stuff is gone your stomach can start healing and feel happy.

3)If you see symptoms coming on, increase your uptake of water and cut down on extremely spicy, acidic or caffeinated products for a bit.

4) Apple sauce, the all nautral kind is a good neutralizing base to be eaten first thing in the morning while you are still experiencing symptoms for a few days.

5)Definitely raise the head of your bed for as long as your symptoms persists. I am over my pain but I am still sleeping with several pillows just in case!

6)Do not eat and lay down! Imaging all the food and acid going up your esophagus you don’t want that!

7) From my personal experience working out on a full stomach or semi full stomach brings on my pain. So now I work atleast 2.5 or 3 hours after eating.

8)Eat at regular intervals, smalls and frequent meals till the symptoms are gone. Keeping your stomach empty will aggravate the issue.

9)Wear looser clothes! Especially things that dont sit on your waist because thats where your stomach and esophagus meet. Loose pants for men. Low rise pants or better yet dresses for women.

But the main cure is RELAXATION AND WATER! these two paired together with a balanced diet will knock the socks off your acidity and reflux!

Let me know if you try this out and if it helps. Also feel free to add to comments anything that has helped you get rid of your reflux and acidity.

Always guessing what makeup colors are right for you? Try them for Free!

Hi lovelies,

I am super excited to share that I was contacted by one of the most innovative makeup website to work on a project with them. I was among the first few bloggers to be selected to test the website prior to their launch in the US and share my experience with my audience. This tool is like a dream come true for me because I have suffered for years from the problem of continuously going and buying the same exact shades of lipstick and eyeshadows over and over again.  Or just buying the cutest shade of makeup only to come home and find out it doesn’t look cute on me at all. The packaging has been ripped open by then and I have already put it against my skin. There is no way I am returning that stuff. Then ofcourse their is the mystery of how would something that my friend or coworker is wearing, would look on me? You can’t go around testing products in the store or asking your friends to share them with you. No thank you that just sounds a bit gross too. Sharing makeup leads to alot of different infections. It is also useful if you are someone who never wears makeup, now is your chance to see what it will look like on you without having to buy all the products right away! So how does GlamSt resolve this issue?

http://www.GlamSt.com

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/glamstapp

GlamSt lets you upload a picture of yourself and I would suggest taking a good quality facial shot with no makeup on for best results. And choose from famous brands of makeup that we all know about, to apply to your picture. Okay I know how it sounds. I thought it would look tacky too just like those old hair style applications that were popping up on the internet in early 2000s but the IT person in me was completely taken aback by how real the makeup I was applying to the picture, looked. I even realized that my thought about not ever buying lipstick with a more orange tinge in it was a bad idea, they actually look great on my complexion. You can even see the details of the eyeliners and the mascara. And when you think that is it you can even apply different shades of concealers, blushes, face powders and foundations to your face. All and in All you get to play with makeup from top brands like clinique , Dior, Bobbie brown, NARS just to name a few. The options are endless and the results are very real life like. You even have the option to buy the products directly from GlamSt.

ChiclyCute GlamSt

GlamSt means alot to me not only because it is something that I find very useful and had been struggling with my entire life with but also because it was started by two women Engineers. Yes us techie girls love fashion and makeup too and its good to see other ladies using their skills to apply it to the makeup and fashion world.  I would like to also let you all know that I have not been paid by GlamSt in any way, shape or form. These opinions are all mine and true. If you don’t believe me head on over to http://www.glamst.com and try it out for yourself. Feel free to share your pictures on my facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/chiclycute or just leave a comment with your GlamSt link below! I would love to check them out.

Outfit Post: My Wedding Dinner outfit!

Hi sweeties, Here is a quick outfit post from this past Saturday. My bestfriend got married and her family threw a reception dinner. The real wedding date is supposed to be next year so I am super thrilled to be a part of the whole planning. I was not sure what I should wear to the dinner because I wanted to keep it appropriate but still not look very simple or causal. I finally fell on my one piece jumper suit I had bought from H&M a few years back. I hadn’t even worn it till last year because I had gained a bit of weight since I bought it due to foot issues leading to inactivity. It was a beautiful dinner and I loved all the traditional things they did that I am not accustomed to in my culture. I wish we would incorporate some of those in ours. Maybe I will do that for my kids when they grow old and are getting married.

I wish my bestfriend and her sweet baby good luck and a very happy and merry wedded life!

Let me know what you think of my wedding dinner outfit?

Neoprene Dresses for Spring

Hi lovelies,

It has been a while since I have done a style post. It has been long neglected due to my overwhelming schedule. But the moment I started spotting these dresses I knew I had to inform each one of you about what you should be looking forward to this Spring and Summer. Neoprene dresses! I am sure some of you are already familiar with them but if you aren’t here is a quick breakdown from me of what they are. (Scroll further down for affordable everyday versions of below dresses)

Neoprene Dress

Left: Clover Canyon Griffith Park Dress                    Middle: Boston Proper Zipfront        Right: Clover Canyon Floral Maze

Neoprene is a man made rubber but when used in fabrics it is combined with nylon and spandex. It gives your outfits a little bit of ommph so skirts and dresses are more fluffy at the bottom (think skater style skirts). The stretchiness of the material helps making the fabric more comfortable to wear. A version of this fabric is made to use scuba suit. So if you are planning to wear one this spring no sweat you will be pretty water proof :) Also known as scuba dresses.

We saw a few solid colors ones for fall and winter but there is a new twist all over the runway that I haven’t seen atleast in local stores just yet, Floral Neoprene dresses and skirts for Spring. I am sharing a select few that I found online and have been contemplating to buy because they are just too gorgeous. Ofcourse the best looking ones cost an arm and a leg. Have fun browsing and let me know what you think of these or feel free to post the link of the ones you find online in the comments section below:

Outfit Post: Snow Storm Wolf

Hi lovelies,

Another terrible snowstorm is upon us and as promised I am bringing you another outfit post that will help you keep yourself warm. You can wear it the way I was wearing it because the hat is pretty warm or you can throw a jacket on top to be warmer. Healthwise I am doing alot better and will be doing a very important post soon on what will help your stomach heal faster than anything else, an item whose power alot of people in today’s world under estimate. I talked to several people at work or in my friends circle about the whole concept and everyone was just drawing a blank except maybe one or two people. It was quite shocking that people do not know the concept of alkaline and acidic food when it comes to eating.

Anyway back to the outfit. The hat was a gift this past Christmas from hubby dearest. He knew how much I liked my other all black one he got me and knew that I was eyeing this one on Amazon. I love huskies and wolves and it ultimately reminds me of them. I have no intentions of ever turning into an animal. These hats just appeal to me due to the cuteness and warmth they provide. I love how the paws come attached and you can actually needle them throw the sleeve of your jacket and they turn into mittens/gloves to keep you warm! It is weird to be posting constant snow pictures while our fellow bloggers over in the other warmer parts of the US and the world are posting pictures in shorts already! I can’t wait for spring but for now today is another day for me to pull out my furry things out!

Let me know what you think of the outfit and what are you doing to keep yourself warm in this insane year of winter?

Outfit of the Day: Winter Warmth

Hi Lovelies,

My life and the weather has alot in common these days. Alot happening all at once and I am letting it all sink in. On this particular day It was an unbelievable almost 60 degrees and then there came snowfall again the following day. I am getting a bit out of shape again unfortunately due to spending the entire month of January and February sick which restricted my mobility and ability to exercise.  I am big fan of form fitted clothing and on this occasion I put a loose sweater on top of my skater style dress. I actually like how well it turned out. I always thought bulky clothes will weigh me down but I guess alot has changed over the years. I was also tired of the all black and dark garb everyone is sporting these days everywhere and wanted to add some color to my outfit. The layering also kept me super warm granted now us east coast people are used to the bitter cold of states like Colorado and Wisconsin. I am sure those of you who actually live there snickered at my last statement. I mean come on I have been brave enough to bare my legs in 45 degree weather which I used to consider lets wrap myself up in 15 layers of clothing day :)

Let me know what you think of the outfit.

Outfit Post: Winter Snow Bunny when its cold and snowy

Hi sweeties,

I have been a bit sick lately not in a cold and flu kind of way but I genetically have GERD and it rares its ugly head every few years. The new bout hit me just after new years and I have been put back on meds for it. Anyway we had another snowmathon today well it is going on right now as I am typing this up. Today was also my last day off of work and I am not sure if tomorrow will be a work from home day or they will clear up the school in time for me to actually make it to the office. I did dress up to go play outside in the snow and also thought what better than to show you guys how to dress warm when its snowing insanely and still look cute in furry animal hat. I know alot of people go “I would look so silly in one!” but seriously you can pull it off depending on how you dress it up. I wear mine regularly when its extremely cold and even got a second pair this christmas from my husband which I will be featuring on the blog soon on another what to wear in snowmathon post.

Let me know what you think and feel free to share your furry hat pictures with me via email at chiclycute@gmail.com or on my facebook page at facebook.com/chiclycute

Welcome 2014!

Hi lovelies,

I had an intense end to my 2013 to the point that I have bee MIA for about close to 2 months. And I wouldn’t have it any other way. I think I probably grew more in the last months then the remainder of the year of 2013. I did miss alot of you not just sharing my life as well as keeping up with all of you on your blogs! It’s just working the partime job in retail took over my life more than I expected. Somehow I was informed I am the highest seller and I started getting offered days to work during weekdays! Which is not what I had asked for. And some of you know I have a extreme respect of authority figures to the point where I have a hard time saying No to them….soooooo I caught myself working close to 30 hours at the mall besides my insane job which already makes me work 60 hours a week in Fall. Soooo with that out of the way here is what you have missed in my life and I might have  future posts coming with details :)

1)I was actually recognized at the mall by a follower and a fellow blogger! It was surreal!!!!!!!!!!!! Here I was one minute ordering some food at the food court and then here was this pretty girl talking to me about my blog. Soooooooo I will reveal who that is in a future post this month and need I say collaborative posts to come soon?

2)I have worked really hard on my body and it was a blessing to start 2014 in the best shape I have been in 3 years since the foot injury! Which means with my renewed sense of what works in the health department there will be more health posts coming!!! I can officially tell you now what works and doesnt work :)

3)I have stood at the mall for 30 hours a week back to back and my feet although got painful I have somehow managed to not cripple myself. I can now officially say I can do this! Yes it hurts and yes I have to ice my feet three times a day but I have been able to stand on my two aching feet and even cook dinner :)

4) With my body atleast 80% where I need it to be, in 2014 I will be concentrating on working on my mind and personality. Building a stronger back bone and taking the “No Nonsense” attitude against the kindness sucking monsters a step ahead lol. So Look out for tons of motivational posts and support posts.

There is tons more but for now I am going to leave you guys with the pictures of intimate New Years Dinner Hubby and I had on New years day. We had friends over on the eve so it was more of a I am not cooking for so many people event :)

How did you guys ring in the new year?
